Hybrid heat pumps and energy grids: a dynamic duo towards climate-neutral homes| 3 takeaways from our webinar:

  • No one solution fits all for decarbonising buildings: decarbonisation can’t be achieved overnight, and to reach the goals set by the Commission for 2030 and 2050, there needs to be clever integration of energy vectors and use of different technologies that take into account existing infrastructure and local renewables potential.
  • Technologies relying on electricity are the way forward to achieve the energy transition, but electrification has its limits in certain areas: this can be the case, for example, in densely populated cities where the existing electricity grids are already under excessive strains and need important improvements.
  • Hybrid heat pumps can offer a solution to this issue, they can be easily and quickly integrated into existing building stock by balancing the use of electricity with the use of fuels, adapting to price signals, renewables availability, and existing energy infrastructure.

A big thank you to everyone who joined us and to our speakers Valentina D’Acunti, Walid Atmar, and Fabio Parola for your meaningful insights!
