On 20 December, we released the 4th episode of EHI’s My Next Guest is series, featuring Jorgo Chatzimarkakis, the CEO of Hydrogen Europe.

In Secretary General Federica Sabbati’s discussion with Mr. Chatzimarkakis, just before the European Hydrogen Week and the €800 million auction by the European Commission for the establishment of the European Hydrogen Bank, they explored some key topics. These included the role of hydrogen in the post-pandemic world and the aftermath of the Ukraine war, Europe’s substantial investments compared to other global players, the missing elements, and the timeline for a genuine hydrogen market.

To support hydrogen production tools and reduce costs, Mr. Chatzimarkakis emphasized the importance of a Hydrogen bank to foster the manufacturing of hydrogen production tools and support the demand. He also stressed the need for effective policies on hydrogen use and their correct implementation, with the goal to replace grey hydrogen with green hydrogen by 2030.
