On 31 March 2022, EHI submitted its feedback to the European Commission concerning the legislative proposal to review the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD), published in December 2021.

In its position, EHI recalled the importance of the ‘heating dimension’ of buildings and the urgency to accelerate the replacement of old and inefficient heaters – with modern and more sustainable alternatives – as a priority to support buildings’ decarbonisation.

It stressed the need to address buildings’ decarbonisation within a system perspective, by adopting a multi-technology and multi-vector approach in new standards and provisions aimed at cutting emissions from the building stock.
